One or two degrees difference shouldn't be too big of a deal.īest of luck and please keep us posted. Matching the water temperature from tank to tank is highly recommended to prevent stress and possibly ICH. If you don't wish to use the water from the 20 gallon then I would highly recommend the drip acclimation procedure as mentioned above. Lowering your pH levels to suddenly can be fatal to your fish. If the pH of the new water is lower than that of the 20g's then I recommend that you add the water very slowly. If the new water you are adding has a higher pH level than the 20 gallon water and it isn't far off, then there shouldn't be any issues as far as pH shock. This may help to eliminate the need for acclimation. I recommend that you add the water from the 20 gallon tank into the larger tank first.
